Saddam is Gone.

Nothing like leaving one of the biggest news stories of 2006 to the very end. You know, when television producers have already completed their sappy, string-filled tributes to the year past, which tend to run ad nauseam throughout our holiday season.

I also find it hard to believe that it has already been three years since Hussein was found hiding out, appropriately enough, in a rat hole. Ironic, too, that the Butcher of Baghdad's execution today was hastened by Eid-ul-Adha, the Muslim "feast of the sacrifice" (during which executions are not allowed).

But they certainly didn't leave Hussein hanging when it came to picking an execution date. Okay, that was just bad. Considering the atrocities attributed to this man, you'd think there could maybe have been a bit more creative method of execution. Instead, it feels more like we simply weren't able to guess all of the right letters to complete the puzzle. Letters that would spell "Weapons of Mass Destruction", perhaps. No, maybe they could have just left him outside in Denver until the six-foot-high snowdrifts covered his body. Leaving Saddam Hussein as cold in death as he was in life.
