With final exams wrapping up yesterday and nearly 30,000 university students packing up to begin the mass exodus homeward for summer, a strange calm has descended upon the city this morning. Albeit a calm littered with burnt-out couches, splintered desks and sheaves of paper left in the wake of student experience. It seems so recently wide-eyed students descended upon the city in anticipation of fall classes and renewed acquaintances. Eager, with unburnished Ikea Allen keys and a freezer full of home cooking. And now, the city gets a reprieve as it sheds its skin for a few months prior to an injection of new energy, and new life, again in September.

Empty shells in the shadows,
contents outed
haunted by the whispers of shouts,
echoing still.
