Right. So, it seems there are a couple of themes rounding into shape on this blog. Fine, feathered friends and furniture. Really, what boy's life isn't full of birds and wood? Not known as the handiest of people (an impression I'm trying hard to alter. No, really -- check out the suede toolbelt!), I was pretty happy with my latest 'decorative touch' as Martha would say (actually, no, she wouldn't dream of laying claim to this one -- it has no bows, nor faux fern and wasn't made from entirely from scratch, from stray, second-hand toothpicks). But really, thanks Paul and Carol for your kind donation of a coffee table, which I freshened up with a couple of coats of paint today. Nothing wrong with the mauve and lavender, but it was time for something a bit more
MANLY (written, of course, in the manliest of fabrics: plaid!). It really fills that gaping hole that existed between the couch and the t.v.
You know, where coffee tables would normally go.
One small problem: the colour scheme, decided all too easily by access to free paint? A (Kate)
moss green and a fine number called
'golden straw'. Sort of makes the testosterone run. Away. So, in the end, it still ended up being kind of girly, but it looks good. And the suede toolbelt was all a lie anyway.
But, to compensate, we're going to have to suck it up and do manly things with this table (so-named the Isle of Paul). Like put our beer on it. And Kraft Dinner. And smelly feet. And curse while playing video games. Pong, perhaps?

* Still deciding whether or not the cardboard adds to the 'ruggedness factor'.
